Finance Manager

Role Summary:

The Manufacturing Financial Manager is responsible for the financial and analytical capabilities of Chem Link a SOPREMA Company. This role has a high degree of cross functional work relationship with finance, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, sales, and HR. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results. This position will drive improvement for our company by providing best practices for analysis, forecasting/budgeting, cost control, closing/control processes, and capital project analysis. This person has oversight of preparing, analyzing, forecasting and presenting monthly, quarterly and yearly financial data including department expenses, machine hour rates, production variances and customer/product/work center profitability. This role will require travel to the Chem Link location in Michigan with possible relocation in the future.

• Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
• Analyze financial statements and prepare reports showing significant variances or changes from budget or last year
• Monitor and help to establish standards for manufacturing costs and efficiency statistics
• Conduct and/or coordinate cost and efficiency studies along with the manufacturing area managers
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
• Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes.
• Working with the CFO and other managers, develop and provide support for the annual budget
• Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Monitor and support taxation requirements
• Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process with external auditors

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA Preferred
• 5+ years of related work experience in Cost Accounting
• In-depth knowledge of major financial processes within manufacturing including standard setting, productivity and other cost analysis
• Broad knowledge of US GAAP including product costing, inventory valuation and fixed assets
• Self motivated with strong analytical skills
• Desire to drive opportunities for productivity
• Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams through financial analysis of high impact projects
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively interpret and report on financial performance of operations results with all levels of management
• Organize information and procedures in logical and practical manners
• Know and utilize formal and informal channels to get the job done
