Excessive rainfall can wreak havoc to our roadway infrastructure and drainage systems. Every year municipalities are faced with leaking or washed out culverts due to these storm events. This happened to be the case just minutes away from SOPREMA’s US headquarters in Wadsworth, OH after a severe spring rainstorm washed out a 120-year-old stone culvert.
The city of Wadsworth selected to waterproof the exterior of the new precast box culvert in order to extend its service life by providing protection against road salts and to prevent soil erosion at the joints of the structure. The city chose a system that met Ohio DOT specifications by utilizing ELASTOCOL STICK primer to promote maximum adhesion of the COLPHENE 3000 self adhered membrane to the box culvert.
