OVERVIEW OF SOPRA-XPS
Made of cellular foam, SOPRA-XPS extruded polystyrene thermal insulation panels are primarily used as thermal insulation for foundations, walls and inverted roof systems, including plaza decks, green roofs and parking decks.
RECYCLED CONTENT
For the sake of transparency, SOPREMA presents the portion of verified recycled content (according to ISO standards) separately, compared to the declared content which includes the portion of recovered materials (reintroduced) during product manufacturing. Following this same logic, the content including recovery is therefore verified separately but is not presented in the Recycled Content Certification.
ATTRIBUTES OF XPS
SOPRA-XPS is a thermal insulation panel composed of extruded polystyrene. It is made of closed-cell foam and is mainly used as thermal insulation for SOPREMA foundation systems, walls, and inverted roofs including plaza decks and green roofs and parking decks.
Did you know that the SOPRA-XPS plant aims for zero waste? The SOPRA-XPS plant has the potential to achieve zero waste in its production. As part of an eco-efficiency mindset, the manufacturing process is designed to minimize losses at source and to efficiently reintroduce residues into the production cycle. Moreover, industrial ecology in the form of exchange and collaboration with various external partners promotes the recycling or recovery of residual materials.
Up to 70%* recycled content for the entire product line
*The recycled content varies according to the compression range. The global recycled content is made of one part of post-consumer and pre-consumer content validated by CT Consultants and another part that accounts for the manufacturing recovery value. The specific details of the products covered by this validation can be found in the recycled content certificate.
OUR SOPRA-XPS IS GREENGUARD GOLD CERTIFIED
GREENGUARD Gold certification includes very strict selection criteria and considers the most demanding safety factors for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. These requirements also include some sensitive groups of people (such as children and the elderly), and they ensure that a product is acceptable in high-risk environments, such as schools and healthcare facilities.
WHAT MAKES SOPRA-XPS UNIQUE
Thanks to the density of their closed-cell composition, SOPRA-XPS panels have exceptional resistance to water and water vapor, and they prevent voids in the insulation. This prevents any uncontrolled movement of air through the assemblies.
RESISTANT IN ALL OF ITS ASPECTS
In addition to being resistant to water and water vapor, SOPRA-XPS panels are versatile and capable of withstanding extreme temperature changes and freeze-thaw cycles without permanent damage. Moreover, even when exposed to moisture, SOPRA-XPS resists mold and bacteria.
TOUGHNESS AND SUSTAINABILITY
Rigid and non-friable, SOPRA-XPS panels are suitable for a variety of applications. Sharp and clean cuts are easy to make and do not generate dust. Lightweight and easy to install, SOPRA-XPS panels are offered with various compressive strengths to meet all needs. Moreover, they provide one of the highest compressive strengths on the market, whether against heavy or dynamic loads.
CONSTANT PERFORMANCE
SOPRA-XPS panels are compliant with the CAN ULC S701.1 standard thanks to the following four features: good compressive strength, high R-value (R-5/inch), dimensional stability and very low water absorption. Moreover, they provide a constant long-term R-value (LTTR) of R-5 per inch, even at low temperatures. They maintain their thermal and mechanical performance throughout the life of the building.
