In May 2017, the Lancaster Material Distribution Center needed a new roof. While the original SOPREMA asphalt system was in decent shape, it was nearly 25 years old and at the end of its life. Through value engineering, it was decided that the existing system would be left in place to save cost. SOPREMA products were selected to re-roof this project due to the proven durability of the existing roof. The system that was installed included ELASTOCOL® 500, COLVENT® Flam, ELASTOPHENE® Flam LS FR GR, SOPRALENE® Flam 180 and SOPRALENE Flam 180 FR GR.
In addition to the economic benefits of choosing to re-roof the building, the roofing contractor, Texas Roof Management, Inc., was also able to save time and labor on this project through other efforts. Utilizing a helicopter to stock the material on the building was one step that provided them with major time and labor savings. By doing this, they were able to complete this step in 4 days with 288 man hours vs. the estimated 2,400 man hours.
