In 1908, in Strasbourg, France, Charles Geisen made a groundbreaking discovery that revolutionized the waterproofing industry. Geisen found that dipping jute cloth in hot bitumen created a flexible and easy-to-install waterproofing solution, which he aptly named the MAMMOUTH membrane, evoking its strength and durability. Alongside this innovation, Geisen laid the foundation for SOPREMA’s Contracting Division, assembling a team of skilled installers dedicated to delivering exceptional service. Today, SOPREMA operates over 50 manufacturing plants and has a global presence in 90 countries, including manufacturing facilities in Wadsworth, Ohio, and Gulfport, Mississippi, in the United States. Despite expansive growth, SOPREMA remains committed to its core values of integrity, respect and commitment to excellence. SOPREMA prioritizes sustainable product development to minimize environmental impact, upholding Charles Geisen’s legacy of innovation while remaining conscientious stewards of the planet.
